| There's
a strong emphasis here on The Arts, and many local
towns are not short on their museums, annual events and festivals
to make their own particular mark on the discerning visitor.
Angouleme
was the second city to be taken by the Germans and
has a wealth of history and museums related to the Resistence
Movement. Nearby Oradour sur Glane
reminds us of the horrors of war in monumental fashion, while
other towns more quietly mark the passage of time with their
Roman Architechture and Medieval
Buildings.
Medieval
Confolens is host to a spectacular international
Music Festival steeped in costume and culture and the Cognac
Blues Festival is no less beguiling and engaging.
The
world famous vineyards of Bordeaux and of St. Emilion
in particular are a must for those who are even slighlty interested
in the ryhme, reason and meticulous ritual of hand-picked
grape to Grand Cru.
Wine
tasting, cheesemaking, chocolate factories, brandy sampling,
craft galleries, night markets, medieval churches, magnificent
chateaux, monkeys, wolves, restaurants, futuristic worlds,
empty beaches, cafes, parks & gardens, picturesque villages
~ all waiting to be discovered and explored by you!
